What IS a Cockapoo
Cockapoos have been around since the 1950’s. A Cockapoos is a cross between a purebred Poodle and a purebred cocker spaniel. Any size poodle can be used and an American or English Cocker is used.
In our case, we use a large toy poodle and an American Cocker Spaniel. Our poodle is the sire and the Cockers are our moms.
Cockapoos can come in all sizes and colors depending on which parents are used. One litter can consist of all colors and sizes!
The temperament of the Cockapoo is awesome! Cockapoos are highly trainable with keen intelligence. They are outgoing, curious and eager to please. They can do well with one person or a family with children. They can adjust to apartment living or live on a large farm. They can mold themselves to most family lifestyles with little to no effort.
But they are people dogs. They should not be left outside or home alone for extended long periods of time. They are low to no shed dog which makes them very popular.
Their lifespan is generally 12 to 15 years.
Although cockapoos are recognized by several organizations, we prefer to register with the ACHC (American Canine Hybrid Club).
